Dev Ops Engineer

Job Overview:

Reports to Software Director in Platform Development.  The Dev Ops Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining Wind Creek’s high-traffic gaming platforms. This position requires a blend of DevOps expertise, software engineering skills, and a proactive approach to system optimization. The ideal candidate will contribute to the stability, scalability, and efficiency of our publicly visible gaming services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain required services to ensure the stability and reliability of our online games platforms and internal infrastructure.
  • Deploy updates and fixes to production environments
  • Develop and implement tools to reduce error occurrences and improve system reliability
  • Perform root cause analysis for production issues
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across the platform
  • Design and implement automated scripts to streamline operations
  • Create and maintain procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Provide technical support to end-users and internal teams as needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve infrastructure and processes
  • Ensure high availability and performance of gaming platforms creating a clear path to 99.9 stability.
  • Reduce system downtime and error rates through proactive measures
  • Implement effective automation solutions to improve operational efficiency
  • Deliver timely resolutions to technical issues and incidents
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of DevOps practices and procedures
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)

  • High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 6 months from start date as a condition of continued employment
  •  Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar software engineering role
  • Proven track record of supporting high-traffic, consumer-facing services
  • Experience working in the gaming industry or with gaming platforms is a plus
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and handle off-hours incidents as needed
  • Required Skills and Competencies: Technical skills:
  • Expert knowledge of Linux shell scripting
  • Deep Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience of implementing and running CI/CD pipelines and methodologies
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and tech stacks, preferably AWS
  • Working knowledge of automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Pulumi
  • Working understanding and Familiarity with Kafka
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and practices
  • Soft skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and solving issues
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
  • Additional skills (preferred but not required):
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., ELK stack)
  • Understanding of network security principles and best practices
  • Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
  • Must have a valid and current State Driver’s License and an insurable driving record for purposes of driving company vehicles as required
  • Must have a Tribal Gaming License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) as a requirement for this position
  • Must have willingness and ability to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment
