Job Overview:
The Risk Specialist I will be responsible for assisting the Risk Manager with administration of insurance claims, loss prevention, and related insurance administration matters for all Wind Creek Hospitality properties. He/she will assist with property, casualty, and workers’ compensation insurance claims and administration. This Specialist will communicate with brokers, guests, team members, attorneys and representatives from insurance companies and third-party administrators (“TPA’s”) to ensure proper Risk Management processes are followed. This person will assist in the development of risk management and safety guidance, protocols, and training for other departments within the Company and communicate with various internal and external sources to accomplish Risk Management purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Corresponds with the Risk Manager, brokers, claimants, attorneys and TPA’s to establish coverage, identify liability, levels of injury and property damage, determine appraisal values, and to verify costs
- Processes property and liability claims, which includes meeting and communicating with claimants, team members, department heads, attorneys, all levels of internal management, and other parties in furtherance of claim processing
- Proactively identifies potential risks, both FOH and BOH, and makes recommendations to reduce or eliminate risks
- Schedules vendors for repairs/replacements as appropriate
- Enters general liability, property, and workers’ compensation claims into various databases
- Receives and interprets Initial Reports of Injury/Illness, reports as needed to management, and submits information to third-party administrators as necessary
- Assists with filing claims with insurance companies or with settling claims between the Company and claimants.
- Contacts team members who have been injured or have become ill at work or who plan to file workers’ compensation claims, as well as those team members’ management personnel and treating physician’s staffs to coordinate treatment with work considerations
- Ensures that all necessary and/or required information is entered into PCI Gaming data systems, and the systems of insurers and third-party administrators, as needed
- Prepares monthly and quarterly claim reports as requested
- Develops risk and safety guidance, protocols, and training
- Assists the Risk Manager in administering team member vaccination programs, waiver and release programs of various team member functions, and all training activities related to Risk Management issues
- Works closely with management and workers’ compensation physicians to coordinate Return-to-Work dates and injured team members’ work accommodations
- Moderate travel between properties may be required
Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)
- High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 6 months from start date as a condition of continued employment
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Bachelor’s Degree AND two (2) years’ property/casualty claims experience in a corporate environment– required
- OR an Associate’s Degree AND four (4) years’ property/casualty claims experience in a corporate environment – required
- The proficient skills to create excel reports, executive summaries and complex reports utilizing Microsoft Office products (a skills test will be administered)- required
- Must possess a high level of maturity, dependability, and punctuality
- Must observe rules of confidentiality at all times
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (skills test will be administered)
- Must have and maintain valid state-issued operator driver’s license
- Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
- Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position
