Pensacola Opera’s Artists in Residence visit elementary, middle, and high schools throughout five counties in Northwest Florida and Southwest Alabama.     Details The Pensacola Philharmonic Orchestra was first formed in 1926 by Professor John W. Borjes. In the 1950s, the organization emerged as the Greater Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and is still known today. In its 96th season, the PSO continues to seek ways to fulfill its mission to promote the well-being of the Greater Pensacola community through excellence in live symphonic music and lifelong learning through engaging musical activities. One of these ways includes the "Beyond the Stage" program that brings musical experiences to schools, retirement communities, health care facilities, and galleries in virtual and in-person settings.

    Details Captain D's Castin' 'N Catchin' is a fishing tournament where all proceeds benefit the Pediatric & Congenital Heart Center of Alabama at Children's Hospital in Birmingham, AL. The tournament has raised over $750,000 for Children's at Alabama in just four years. Castin' N Catchin' started in 2016 as a professionally run tournament and is now the nation's largest family-run charity fishing tournament. To date, the money raised from Castin' 'n Catchin' has funded full-time research assistance, research on renal care for cardiac patients, and a camp to teach patients with cardiac issues about caring for their condition.
